CEDAR CITY, Utah (September 1, 2026) - The Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, a Southern Utah University engagement event that serves as the official state games for the state of Utah, has released its 2027 tentative schedule.
The Games, which welcomed 11,144 athletes in 2026, will feature 48 different events for competition in 2027. The popular Opening Ceremony event, presented by State Bank of Southern Utah, is scheduled for Friday, June 4. The 2027 season will open with Wrestling on March 19-20Â at Canyon View High School.
"We are excited to announce the schedule for our 2027 Program Year," said Jon Oglesby, Assistant Vice President, Sports and Destination Engagement at SUU. "Our 2027 calendar will continue to build on the momentum we have created in a variety of different sports over the past couple years, including creating new weekends of competition for existing sports to further the accessibility and impact of our programming."
Notable event dates include: High School Basketball (June 3-5), Water Polo (April 15-17), Baseball (June 10-12), 7-on-7 Football (June 7-8), Youth Soccer (June 3-5), and Girls' Flag Football (June 14-15). Fastpitch Softball will split into multiple weekends to accommodate additional growth and expansion, with the 8U-14U brackets scheduled for June 3-5 and the 16U-18UÂ brackets scheduled for June 18-19. In addition, the Games will continue their foray into winter sports programming, partnering with Utah Figure Skating to host the 'High Altitude Skating Challenge' event on March 25-27 at the Olympic Oval in Kearns.Â
Due to the placement of Memorial Day on the calendar, a variety of sports will be moved to mid May, including the sports of Trapshooting and Slow Pitch Softball, which are scheduled for the weekend of May 21-22. Youth Basketball and Ultimate Frisbee are scheduled for June 25-26, which also is the scheduled weekend for LHM USG's collaborative event with the Utah Shakespeare Festival.Â
LHM USG will host Special Olympics Utah on the Southern Utah University campus for the 'Special Olympics Utah Summer Games' on May 20-22, with the SOUT Opening Ceremony scheduled for Thursday, May 20. A variety of tennis events held in collaboration with the Utah Tennis Association will take place throughout July and August.Â
A number of Adaptive Sports opportunities will be announced for the 2027 Program Year at a later date, with sports to be disclosed. Other LHM USG community engagement events will also be announced at a later date.Â
The Games welcomed athletes from 27-of-29 counties in Utah in 2026, including participants from 21 different states. The event had an estimated economic impact of $13,509,701 on Iron County in the month of June, according to Visit Cedar City/Brian Head. Final economic impact numbers for the 2026 Program Year will be released at a later date.Â
Registration for the 2027 Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games will open on Tuesday, December 1 at utahsummergames.org. The event will offer preferred pricing on select team sports for early registrations prior to February 1.Â
