CEDAR CITY, Utah (February 21, 2026) - The No. 1 Morgan Trojans finished their season on top for the second straight year with a clear 64-51 win over American Heritage on Saturday, Feb. 21, in the America First Event Center.

Morgan Head Coach Scott Hunt said, "This was a goal we've had for three years. The senior bunch we had started as sophomores and they were on a two year mission for two straight championships. It's hard to do. American Heritage was a really tough opponent. This means the world, and it's something [these kids] will never forget for the rest of their lives."

Top Performers

• For Morgan, Bracken Saunders and Jake Hansen put on a masterclass. Saunders scored 28 points on 73.3% shooting and Hansen totalled 23 points.
• For American Heritage, a well-rounded attack saw three separate Patriots make it over 10 points.

Game Recap

First Half

A foul-heavy opening to the game meant that between both teams, six free throws accompanied only one basket. Morgan's Jake Hansen snapped the streak, cashing in on a pair of jumpers, but American Heritage's Jackson Black answered with a triple. The Trojans closed out a high scoring first quarter with a 20-15 lead.

While the Patriots continued to battle, they couldn't put a stop to Hansen and Saunders, who erupted on a scoring spree to lead the team into halftime up 36-24. The two Trojans combined for 30 first half points.

Second Half

American Heritage barrelled back in the start of the second half, cutting the game to four thanks to three scores by Josue Kajinga. However, a triple from Morgan's Saunders slowed the comeback attempt and guided the Trojans into the final quarter with a 43-37 advantage.

A jumper from Brody Peterson helped Morgan to pull further away. Even though the Patriots attack continued to strike, the Patriots were too far out of reach to catch Morgan as they cruised to a 64-51 victory.
