MANDATORY CHECK IN:  A coach or team representative from every team must check-in at the Registration/Check-in area prior to the first game.  You must hand in a completed roster with all waivers signed by each team member if over 18, or by parents or guardians if team member is under 18, including those who may not be present the first day.  Any team that has not checked in at the Registration/Check-in area will forfeit ALL games until this requirement has been completed.

*Schedule and tournament will be based on athlete participation according to number of teams/participants.  Water Polo coordinator will adjust schedule and times as needed to adjust for number of teams/participants.

Fees:
$225 per team (registered by March 21, 2010)
$250 per team (After March 21, must be registered by April 7, 2010)

Registration: Register online. If you are mailing in your registration form, send it to Utah Summer Games Registration, 351 West University Blvd., Cedar City, UT 84720.   Use Team registration form.  

Deadline: No Entries will be accepted after Wednesday, April 7, 2010.  If you are mailing your registration it must be post marked by March 31th to be eligible to compete.  All teams must have waivers signed by all team members if over 18 or by parents or guardians if under 18.  No exceptions. Complete Rosters with Cap #'s must be submitted to Wendy Hutcheson at hutcheson@suu.edu by April 7, 2010.

Check-in Time:  All teams must check-in between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 22, or between 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM on Friday, April 23, with coach or team representative.

Schedule:

April 22nd, Games start at 4:30 PM

April 23rd, Games start at 8:00 AM

April 24th, Games start at 8:00 AM

Boys Schedules will be posted by April 14, 2010
Girls Schedules will be posted by April 14, 2010

Team Limits: Fifteen (15) girls teams and fifteen (15) boys teams.

Team Size: No more than 20 players on a team.

Divisions: 7th – 12th grade as of May 2010.  Proof of age and grade level must be provided by coaches upon request.

Coordinators reserve the right to combine or eliminate divisions as necessary.

Format for Utah Summer Games Water Polo:

  • USWP Rules in force
  • There will be no ties in pool play. If tied at the end of regulation, teams will play 3 minute periods until first score. Game will end with the first scoring team as winner.
  • Rosters - 20 maximum and 7 players minimum.
  • At the time of registration, a roster with cap numbers is mandatory.
  • Any player listed on two team's rosters will not be eligible for play.
  • If any player is found playing for another team, both teams will forfeit all of their team games.
  • Un-sportsman-like conduct may result in the team, coach or players being eliminated from the tournament.
  • Utah Summer Games will limit registration to the first fifteen girls teams and the first fifteen boys teams.
  • There can be no player coaches.
  • Girls may not play on boys teams.*
  • Boys may not play on girls teams.*
  • Each team must have 1 game ball to use in their games.
  • Each team must supply 1 non playing person to help at the table.
  • The Water Polo Tournament Committee will settle all disputes.
  • All Teams must be registered through the Utah Summer Games.
  • Each player must show receipts and proof of eligibility from Utah Summer Games to play.
  • *(If teams need to consolidate boys and girls to field a team, team will play, however the game will not count in final standings.)

Eligibility: The Utah Summer Games and State Games of the West is open to all State Games athletes from the following States: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Athletes from these states are eligible by participating in their local State Games in 2008 regardless of their results or placement in one of the sports, or if a resident of the State of Utah or a resident of a neighboring state (Idaho, Nevada, or Wyoming) that does not currently hold an officially recognized State Games event, for at least 30 days prior to the first day of the competition they wish to enter. In addition, students who are enrolled in a Utah college or university are eligible, as are U.S. military personnel and their family members who are stationed in Utah. The State Games of the West have been organized in accordance with NCAA guidelines with some exceptions. Athletes who have eligibility questions should check with their school athletic administrator or coach. Any athlete with scholastic or collegiate eligibility remaining must comply with rules governing his or her scholastic or collegiate eligibility.

Confirmation: Internet Registrations will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail. Mailed or delivered registrations can check at registration area before event.

Check-In: Athletes need to check in at the SUU Sorenson PE Building, 560 W University Blvd., Cedar City. Each athlete will receive a welcome packet containing the official Utah Summer Games Athlete shirt, valuable coupons and other assorted goodies. Registration will be open on the following days:

Refund Policy: NO REFUNDS will be given including for medical withdrawals. If an event cannot be held due to inclement weather a voucher code may be issued to be used for another sport during the 2010 event or the same sport during the 2011 Utah Summer Games. Exceptions will be made only for the following: entries received after entry deadline; sports or competitions reaching maximum registration capacity; entries received after the maximum number of teams are bracketed or if there are not enough teams or individuals to form a division. Requests must be in writing by email to hutcheson@suu.edu.
